Why hello there, adorable baby Lotanna! Ever so often, I have newborns in the studio who sleep for the majority of their session and then decide to wake up and pose for the camera right towards the end of their session. Lotanna was one of those babies! I always advise my clients to bring their babies into the studio from birth up to 21 days old. This allows me to capture those cute, curly poses that all parents love. But sometimes, I have older babies in the studio that are just as happy to let me pose them! Baby Theo was 5 weeks old for his newborn session and he was just a dream from start to finish - even when wide awake he was content as could be. Lotanna's big sister was so sweet and gentle with her brand new baby brother. Sibling portraits are always my favourite and parents always choose these shots as their favourites too.

Did you know that newborn sessions are booked in advance based on your due date? I always advise booking after you've had your 20 week scan, to ensure availability as I only book in a set amount of newborns per month. Sometimes my schedule is too busy to fit people in last minute so its always a good idea to book in advance!

Are you looking to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
