Handsome Baby Oscar was just over 5 weeks old when he came to see me for his studio newborn session in Aldershot, Hampshire. He was a very alert little guy and was wide awake for most of his session as he clearly didn't want to miss out on a thing! He really enjoyed being swaddled, which is often the case with babies around his age.

I managed to capture a few sleepy shots of baby Oscar, despite him being a cheeky monkey and fighting sleep for most of the session! Here he is, all snug as a bug and wearing the cutest little bonnet and matching wrap from my studio newborn wardrobe. I really love these darker tones, especially this rich green colour - it really pops when matched with the dark brown flokati rug. I've wanted to experiment a little with some of these moodier tones and I'm so glad I had a chance to try it out during this session as I feel these colours really suit him!
Mummy and daddy are head over heels in love with her new little man, and who can blame them? Look how adorable he is!
Did you know that I always leave plenty of time to include family and parent shots as part of my newborn sessions? For my family shots I suggest wearing neutral tones as seen in the image above.
Such a handsome little chap with the most beautiful eyes ♡
Little Oscar didn't have the easiest start in life, which is why his parents and I made the decision to postpone his newborn session until he was well enough. There are always going to be times where my newborn clients will have to reschedule or postpone for various different reasons - babies rarely arrive on their due date and flexibility is a must when it comes to newborn photography. This is why I book clients in with a floating window for around their due date, and ask them to get in touch again once baby has arrived to get a date and time booked in that suits them.
The cutest little pout!
Are you looking to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
If you would like to make a booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch either via my contact form here or send me an email at starspeckledphotography@gmail.com and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
